An individual who is part of Elon Musk’s Neuralink venture, having received a brain implant over a hundred days ago, is now engaging with the game World of Warcraft and describing his newfound capabilities as “sheer magic.”
Jon Noble, a British Army veteran, shared his experiences utilizing the brain-computer interface provided by the Neuralink N1 implant on the X social media platform. He noted that the surgical procedure was “surprisingly straightforward”: he was placed under general anesthesia, a small incision was made, and then a “robotic system” inserted 1024 fine threads into his brain.
The patient recovered well post-operation and was discharged the very next day. By the third day, he reported feeling “significantly better,” and the mark on his head had begun to fade by the seventh day. However, “the real fun kicked in during the second week” when Noble connected his Neuralink to his Apple MacBook. Following the calibration process, he mastered moving the mouse cursor simply by intending where he wished it to go. By the third week, this proficiency felt entirely natural to him.
On the 80th day post-surgery, Noble launched World of Warcraft for the first time. After navigating some initial control hurdles, he grasped that the brain-computer interface represented “pure sorcery.” “I’m now raiding and exploring Azeroth at full speed without using my hands—no mouse, no keyboard, just pure intent. Frankly, it’s amazing. The liberation is genuinely addictive,” the veteran boasted.
