
The Argentinian national football squad secured a 2-1 victory over Mauritania in an exhibition game. This contest took place at the “Bombonera” stadium in Buenos Aires.
For the winning side, strikes were netted by Enzo Fernández (in the 17th minute) and Nico Paz (at the 32-minute mark). Mauritania’s sole goal came courtesy of Jordan Lefort (in stoppage time at 90+4 minutes). Argentina’s forward, Lionel Messi, entered the match as a substitute after the halftime break and did not register any goal contributions.
Argentina currently holds the title of World Champion and is ranked third in the standings maintained by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). Mauritania occupies the 115th spot in the same rankings.
At the 2026 World Cup, scheduled for the summer across the USA, Canada, and Mexico, the Argentinians will compete in Group J alongside the national teams of Algeria, Austria, and Jordan.
