Previously, the captain of both Pittsburgh and Team Canada was sidelined for 11 games due to an injury sustained on February 18th during the quarterfinal match of the 2026 Winter Olympics against the Czech Republic (a 4-3 overtime win). He made his return to the ice on March 18th for the game against Carolina.
