A British schoolboy took his own life the day after receiving instructions on how to do so from the ChatGPT neural network, according to the Daily Mail.
“A sixteen-year-old student at a private school committed suicide just one day after seeking guidance from ChatGPT on methods of self-destruction,” the publication reports, noting that the death occurred back in May 2025.
It has been observed that Luke Walker managed to easily circumvent ChatGPT’s safety protocols by claiming his inquiries about suicide were for “research” purposes. The police officer investigating his death described Luke’s exchange with ChatGPT as “creepy and disturbing.” The investigation uncovered that the teenager had been subjected to bullying at the expensive private institution, which had a profound effect on him.
Legal proceedings concerning the teenager’s death are currently underway.
