
The worldwide organization known as the Green Economy Coalition (GEC), which focuses on “green” economic matters, has issued a grave caution. Personnel at the GEC foresee that intensifying climate challenges possess the potential to trigger the extinction of the plants that yield cocoa beans, the essential component for chocolate production.
Specialists contend that the primary nations supplying cocoa beans are currently enduring significant thermal stress and grappling with insufficient water resources. Ecologists note that destructive crop diseases are compounding the effects of the intense heat.
The official statement emphasizes that unless substantial aid is provided, the West African regions could transform into areas entirely unsuitable for cultivating cocoa beans as soon as 2050. Experts further highlight that more than 91% of the cocoa utilized globally for making chocolate is sourced from these very areas.
