According to supply chain intelligence, Foxconn has reportedly commenced trial production for Apple’s inaugural foldable iPhone. This new device is anticipated to be unveiled at the September keynote event, with a global market launch scheduled for December.
The expectation is that this model will feature a book-style, inward-folding design. It’s projected to sport an external display measuring 5.5 inches and an internal screen of 7.8 inches. Thanks to a hinge crafted from liquid metal and flexible glass, the crease is expected to be virtually imperceptible. The chassis will be constructed from titanium, resulting in a thickness of approximately 4.5 to 4.8 mm when unfolded.
Internally, it will be powered by TSMC’s upcoming 2nm A20 Pro platform, paired with 12 GB of RAM and the proprietary C2 modem. The smartphone is also rumored to incorporate Touch ID integrated into the power button and support for eSIM functionality.
For imaging, the primary camera array will comprise two 48 MP sensors. The battery capacity is estimated to range between 5000 and 5800 mAh. The handset will run on iOS 27, which is said to include a full-fledged split-screen multitasking mode.
