Billionaire Elon Musk has revealed the launch date for his proprietary messenger, XChat: the application designed for iOS devices is set for release on April 17, 2026. This forthcoming announcement has already been posted within the App Store.
This novel messenger will integrate seamlessly into the X social network’s ecosystem, prioritizing user security and ease of communication. Key features highlighted include end-to-end encryption for all correspondence, a mechanism to block screenshot capture, and the capability for calls between users operating on disparate platforms.
A primary distinction for XChat, setting it apart from rivals, will be the option to initiate calls and complete registration without needing to link a phone number. This functionality is notably absent in established platforms such as WhatsApp, owned by Meta (recognized in the Russian Federation as an extremist organization and currently banned), and Telegram, both of which still mandate phone number submission during setup.
Furthermore, the messenger is slated to incorporate ephemeral messages, file transfer capabilities, and support for substantial group conversations accommodating hundreds of participants. Explicit emphasis has been placed on the complete elimination of advertisements—a factor that could prove a significant draw when compared to existing market offerings. Whether an Android counterpart will debut concurrently with the iOS rollout or follow later remains unconfirmed at this time.
