
Google has rolled out fresh artificial intelligence-powered capabilities for its mapping platforms. These enhancements, primarily aimed at enterprise clientele, were unveiled during the Cloud Next event held in Las Vegas.
A significant introduction is the Maps Imagery Grounding technology. This feature enables the generation of lifelike Street View-style environments suitable for visualizing diverse undertakings, such as construction sites or film sets. A simple text prompt submitted via the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform is all that is required for automatic image creation.
Additionally, the company integrated the Aerial and Satellite Insights tool. As reported by TechCrunch, this allows for the analysis of satellite imagery sourced from Google Earth by leveraging the BigQuery cloud data warehouse.
Furthermore, two novel Earth AI Imagery models have been introduced specifically for geospatial analysis. These models possess the capacity to identify features within imagery, like thoroughfares, overpasses, and power lines—tasks that previously necessitated extensive custom development efforts.
Google emphasized that integrating these instruments will streamline operations for commercial entities, data analysts, and urban planners. Specific applications mentioned include environmental monitoring and prompt response during emergencies. Partners already utilizing the platform in their initiatives include Airbus and Boston Children’s Hospital.
