How does this function? A dedicated tool scans YouTube for videos that incorporate a well-known individual’s likeness or voice without their given consent. Upon locating such content, the identified person has the right to request its removal.
This technology was initially unveiled by YouTube in 2024, available only to a select group. Media outlets recall that it was subsequently extended to cover public officials, journalists, and those running for political office. Access is now being broadened to encompass recognized public figures and those acting on their behalf.
Consequently, there will likely be a reduction in new memes, but artists can rest easier.
