Without making any significant announcements, Tesla has introduced a new offering in the UK: the Renewable Energy Bundle. This integrates solar panels and the Powerwall 3 home battery system into a single subscription plan.
The foundational package features an eight-panel solar array paired with a Powerwall 3, priced at £200 per month over a four-year term with zero interest financing. There’s an upfront deposit requirement of £1747.
The most compelling option combines this energy setup with a Tesla Model 3 electric vehicle. In this combined scenario, the total monthly payment amounts to £494. Considering the Model 3 alone starts from £295 monthly, this implies that incorporating the solar system and Powerwall effectively adds the same £200 supplement seen in the standalone energy package. This service is facilitated through Tesla’s UK partner, BOXT.
The Powerwall 3 stands out as one of Tesla’s most capable residential energy storage units. It boasts a capacity of 13.5 kWh, a continuous power output rating reaching 11.04 kW, and an integrated solar inverter capable of supporting up to 20 kW of solar production. The battery unit is rated IP67 for protection, meaning it can withstand brief submergence, and it comes backed by a 10-year warranty guaranteeing retention of at least 80% of its original capacity.
In essence, Tesla is continuing its strategy of converging its automotive offerings with its energy products, forging a unified ecosystem for both personal transportation and residential power needs.
