The Spanish Egyptologist Antonio Ambrosio, associated with the Autonomous University of Barcelona, has put forth a rather surprising proposition: he suggests that the renowned Pyramids of Giza might not have been erected by the ancient Egyptians, but rather by a far older, highly advanced civilization that predates the pharaohs by millennia. This scholar posits that the actual age of these three monumental structures could stretch back as far as 12,000 years, a stark contrast to the conventionally accepted dating of approximately 4,600 years.
The researcher bases his hypothesis on several key observations. In his estimation, the Egyptians themselves merely reproduced these three pyramids after discovering the preexisting ancient edifices. Ambrosio cites the astounding engineering precision of the pyramids as his primary piece of evidence: the ultra-precise cuts in the stone blocks, the nearly flawless flatness of the foundations, and their exact alignment with the stars. None of the smaller pyramids constructed subsequently by the Egyptians exhibit this degree of craftsmanship. Furthermore, the scholar highlights the fact that despite official designations of these massive tombs as the burial places of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, no royal mummies or funerary artifacts have ever been recovered from within them.
The condition of the Sphinx serves as indirect corroboration, according to the Egyptologist, for the existence of this predecessor civilization. Its body clearly displays signs of water erosion caused by heavy rainfall—precipitation that has been absent from Egypt since 3,000 to 5,000 BC. This strongly implies that when the pharaohs reigned, the entire complex was already ancient and significantly weathered.
By drawing parallels between the Giza pyramids and other megalithic constructions globally, Ambrosio considers the possibility that one single, scientifically unknown civilization might have disseminated its sophisticated technologies to various peoples. In his conclusions, the scientist states: “The Pyramids of Giza might represent the legacy of an unidentified earlier civilization, a sophisticated culture that commanded lost technologies. The Fourth Dynasty would have merely repurposed these structures, while subsequent dynasties attempted, without success, to emulate them.”
