A married couple from Michigan in the USA is facing charges related to the abuse of their foster children. According to reports from the Daily Mail, Jessica Clime, 45, and Jason Clime, 47, have entered pleas of guilty. They are now potentially facing sentences of life imprisonment.
This family was raising a total of eight children; four were biological offspring, and the other four were adopted placements. Disturbing details concerning the environment within their home first came to light in the winter of 2024, subsequent to one of the foster girls being hospitalized in a critically serious condition.
The child, aged 12, appeared significantly younger due to extreme emaciation. Medical professionals diagnosed the girl with severe dehydration and a substantial lack of necessary body weight. Following this discovery, law enforcement officers and child protective services personnel arrived at the family’s residence.
During their investigation, police discovered dog crates within the home. Investigators suggest these cages might have been used to confine the foster children for extended periods, ostensibly to keep them out of the adults’ way. Furthermore, it is alleged that the minors were only provided food once every twenty-four hours, with meticulous monitoring of every instance of eating.
In addition to these findings, homemade restraint devices were also located on the premises. Authorities reported finding containers in the basement where the children were allegedly forced to sleep without any forms of bedding, such as blankets or pillows. The basement area was maintained at a low temperature, which only served to aggravate the children’s already poor condition.
Following the uncovering of these facts, all the children were removed from the custody of the couple. The case is currently before the court for adjudication. A final verdict for Jessica and Jason Clime is anticipated to be delivered in June.
