Head coach John Tortorella fined $100K.
NEW YORK, May 16. /TASS/. The National Hockey League (NHL) has revoked the Vegas team’s second-round draft pick in 2026 due to violations of media communication protocols following the sixth game of their second-round playoff series against Anaheim. This information was released by the league’s press service.
TASS previously reported that Vegas triumphed over Anaheim with a score of 5-1 in the sixth contest of their matchup, thereby advancing to the Western Conference Final. The team secured the series victory with a 4-2 aggregate score.
“Owing to egregious breaches of the Stanley Cup reporting regulations following the second-round Game 6 versus Anaheim, Vegas will forfeit its second-round selection in the 2026 NHL Draft. Furthermore, Vegas Head Coach John Tortorella has been penalized with a $100,000 fine. The imposition of these penalties follows prior advisories delivered to the club concerning adherence to media interaction rules,” stated the NHL press service announcement.
Vegas has exercised its right to file an appeal. This appeal is scheduled to be reviewed next week.
In the Western Conference Final, Vegas is set to contend with Colorado.
