An unconventional premiere took place at the Cannes Film Festival. The audience was presented with short films created using artificial intelligence.
Thomas Mayer, a developer from the Norwegian company Multiformat, utilized generative neural networks to “bring to life” erotic magazines from 1976. Static spreads were transformed into dynamic short films, complete with color, sound, and even dialogue.
The project garnered significant audience interest, and the films themselves will soon be released on physical media, including Blu-Ray and a limited edition on video cassettes. This event served as a striking illustration of how contemporary technologies enable a fresh perspective on the cultural heritage of the past.
