
The Italian driver for Mercedes, Kimi Antonelli, secured victory in the main race of the fifth round of the Formula 1 championship – the Canadian Grand Prix, held in Montreal at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
This marks the Italian’s fourth consecutive race win. The runner-up was the seven-time Formula 1 champion, British driver Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari, trailing by 10.768 seconds. In third place was Dutch driver Max Verstappen from Red Bull (+11.276), who achieved his first podium finish of 2026.
Six drivers retired from the race prematurely, including George Russell of Mercedes, who started from pole position, and the current Formula 1 champion, Lando Norris, racing for McLaren.
Rounding out the top ten were: 4. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari, +44.151), 5. Isack Hadjar (Red Bull, +1 lap), 6. Franco Colapinto (Alpine, +1 lap), 7. Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls, +1 lap), 8. Pierre Gasly (Alpine, +1 lap), 9. Carlos Sainz (Williams, +1 lap), and 10. Oliver Bearman (Haas, +1 lap).
The next event, the Monaco Grand Prix, is scheduled to take place on the street circuit in Monte Carlo from June 5th to 7th.
