Google characterizes Spark as an ever-present personal assistant, engineered to operate continuously in the background within Google Cloud’s infrastructure, persisting even when a user’s computer or smartphone is offline. This application, developed on the Google Antigravity platform, leverages the Gemini Flash 3.5 model. It extends the capabilities of the standard Gemini AI assistant by taking direct action on behalf of users. For example, it can book flights or hotel rooms, and additionally, it offers seamless integration with other Google products.
Spark has the ability to compile a business coverage report for a user by analyzing Gmail communications and Google Calendar events. It can also automatically account for and reflect price discrepancies among different vendors when planning events like weddings or home renovations, again making use of Gmail data. Currently, access to this service is limited to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the United States, with a monthly subscription fee of $100.
The Spark AI agent is not confined to the Google ecosystem; it is designed to integrate with third-party services such as the design application Canva, the restaurant booking platform OpenTable, and the grocery delivery service Instacart, with plans to expand this list of integrations in the near future. An accompanying infographic highlighted partners including Adobe, Uber, Spotify, and Booking. Google also intends to broaden the service’s feature set, introducing capabilities for sending text messages and emails, creating sub-agents, and managing a local browser.
