Following its unveiling, concerns arose among residents and experts regarding the sculpture’s stability. According to Asian News International, the monument exhibited noticeable swaying during periods of strong winds.
Authorities determined that this precarious situation posed a risk of collapse and a potential danger to the public. Consequently, the city administration issued an order for the immediate removal of the monument.
Messi achieved World Cup glory in 2022 as part of the Argentine national team. His illustrious career also boasts eight Ballon d’Or awards and two Copa América titles.
The 38-year-old footballer currently plays for Inter Miami. He has reportedly been included in the Argentine squad for the 2026 World Cup, which could mark his sixth appearance in the prestigious tournament.
