
In Mie Prefecture, Japan, following an earthquake that struck the Philippines, an evacuation was ordered for 42,000 individuals due to the threat of a tsunami. NHK, a television broadcaster, reported this development on June 8th.
The publication stated, “Mie Prefecture has issued an evacuation order for 22,201 households and 42,611 people in the city of Shima.”
It was further specified that evacuations were also initiated in cities within the Kagoshima, Aichi, and Shizuoka prefectures. According to the broadcaster’s information, residents of the cities of Naha and Kochi were also affected by the evacuation.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported an earthquake with a magnitude of 8.1 off the coast of Mindanao Island in the Philippines. Consequently, a tsunami warning was issued, prompting residents of nine provinces to be urged to evacuate.
