A teacher from Georgia, USA, has been apprehended for seducing a student and planning an elopement with him to Mexico, as reported by the Daily Star.
The 55-year-old, identified as Amanda Katz, was taken into custody on June 2nd in Roswell. The investigation was initiated in February when the mother of the 16-year-old student discovered explicit communications between her son and his teacher. Authorities claim that Katz first engaged in sexual relations with the minor during the New Year’s holidays. Subsequently, for a period of two months, she repeatedly subjected him to sexual assault within her vehicle.
Furthermore, it came to light that Katz had cultivated a relationship with the victim’s family and had been tutoring his younger sibling. She frequently presented gifts to the teenager’s relatives and even rented a cabin in the woods for them during holiday seasons. Investigators also uncovered that shortly before her arrest, the teacher had made arrangements to abscond to another country with the student. Katz had devised a strategy whereby the teenager was to complete his final exams as an external candidate, after which they would depart together for Mexico.
Should Ms. Katz be convicted on all charges, she could face a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.
