
Iran’s national team left a message in the locker room of the stadium in Los Angeles following their match against Belgium at the 2026 World Cup, according to Sky News.
In it, the team’s staff thanked the Californian city for its hospitality.
“From ancient Persia, which existed thousands of years ago, to the civilized Iran of today, the spirit of Iran remains alive and unshakeable. Thank you, Los Angeles, for your hospitality. We arrived here with pride, competed with honor, and are leaving with dignity,” the note reads.
The match, held at SoFi Stadium in the American city of Inglewood, ended in a 0-0 draw. In the 66th minute, the Belgian team was reduced to ten men after Nathan Ngoy received a straight red card. In the 25th minute, Iran had a chance to open the scoring when Mehdi Taremi found the net, but the goal was disallowed due to offside.
