
The national team of the Netherlands defeated the Tunisian side in the final match of the third round of the group stage at the FIFA World Cup, which is being held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The Group F encounter took place in Kansas City and ended with a 3-1 scoreline. Goals for the Netherlands were scored by Brian Brobbey (7th minute) and Jan Paul van Hecke (62nd), while an own goal was registered by Tunisian captain Ellyes Skhiri (3rd). The losing side saw a goal from Makhachkala Dynamo forward Hazem Mastouri (54th).
The Netherlands accumulated 7 points and advanced to the Round of 16, finishing first in their group. Japan (5 points) and Sweden (4 points) also secured their spots in the knockout stage. Tunisia, who had already lost any chance of progressing after the second round, concluded their tournament campaign with zero points.
The Dutch team will face Morocco in the first knockout round on June 29. On the same day, Japan will take on Brazil. Sweden’s opponent will be determined at a later date. The World Cup will conclude on July 19.
