Ecuador collected four points and advanced to the playoffs by finishing third in Group E. Eight of the 12 teams that place third in their groups at the 2026 World Cup and have the best additional statistics will reach the knockout stage. Previously, Bosnia and Herzegovina also progressed from a third-place spot.
Germany (6 points) secured a playoff berth by topping the group, while Ivory Coast (6) finished second. Curacao (1) ended the group stage in fourth place.
