For the very first time in its history, Canada’s national football team has advanced to the Round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup.
On June 28, the Canadians secured a 1-0 victory over South Africa in the Round of 32.
Previously, Canada had qualified for the tournament’s final stage on three occasions—in 1986, 2022, and 2026—yet each time their journey ended during the group stage.
In the Round of 16, Canada will face the winner of the Netherlands versus Morocco match.
