OpenAI has announced the release of a specialized keyboard for developers, developed in collaboration with computer peripheral manufacturer Work Louder. The device, named Codex, is scheduled to be officially unveiled on July 15 and is expected to feature hardware integration with the company’s artificial intelligence services.
OpenAI announced the preparation of the new device through the OpenAI Developers account on the social network X, posting a short teaser with the caption: “Your favorite Codex shortcuts are getting an update.”
The new product is based on the compact programmable keyboard Creator Micro 2, produced by Work Louder. The base version of this device is equipped with 13 mechanical keys, an analog joystick, and touch controls designed for assigning macros and providing quick access to functions.
Official technical specifications of the upcoming keyboard have not yet been disclosed. However, it is anticipated that the device will include hardware support for OpenAI’s programming tools, enabling users to call AI assistants, initiate code generation, and perform other actions with literally a single keystroke.
