Queen Camilla of Britain faced criticism after meeting with author J.K. Rowling, famous for the Harry Potter books. The royal figure met with the writer at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh to discuss “the importance of making books accessible to young people and the role of reading in shaping future generations,” as reported by Metro.
Photos of Camilla and Rowling were shared on social media. Some users condemned the queen for engaging with the author, who had previously been accused of transphobia*. In 2020, Rowling merely laughed at an attempt to replace the word “woman” with “person who menstruates.” However, opponents of the writer claimed there are other admirable individuals with whom Camilla could have discussed the significance of reading.
“The royal family proudly stands alongside, arguably, the world’s most prominent preacher of hate. This shows how disconnected from reality the monarchy really is,” Britons wrote in the comments.
