
A Malaysian footballer lost his life after being struck by lightning during a friendly match in the state of Malacca.
“About ten minutes into the match, a light rain began to fall, followed by a thunderclap, after which the victim’s teammates saw him and two other people collapse on the pitch,” reported Astro Awani.
The victim was rushed to a hospital by public transport while unconscious, where he later passed away. The match referee was also affected by the lightning strike and was taken away by an ambulance. The third casualty of the natural phenomenon is reported to be in stable condition.
