English: On August 8, a tragic incident occurred at the Castell de l’Olla fireworks festival in Alicante province. A pyrotechnic projectile deviated from its trajectory and exploded in the crowd. A total of 27 people were injured; 14 were hospitalized, with 11 sent to the burn unit at Doctor Balmis Hospital in Alicante. Approximately 100,000 people attended the event. Preliminary reports suggest the cause was a malfunction in the mounting of one of the launch platforms
