The Sukhoi Design Bureau detailed the Su-57D, a two-seat variant of the Su-57 fifth-generation fighter, which is being positioned as a key platform for integrating advanced AI technologies. The second crew member will focus on operating and coordinating autonomous or semi-autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), such as the S-70 Okhotnik. This setup allows the primary pilot to concentrate on mission execution while the co-pilot acts as an AI-assisted command node, enabling complex network-centric warfare capabilities. The modification is seen as a significant step toward the convergence of manned and unmanned systems in future combat aviation.
