Tokyo police have arrested Yakuza boss Seta Sugawara and porn actress Seiko Abe. The Tokyo Reporter announced the news on August 26.
Police had been monitoring Sugawara, who is linked to the Yamaguchi-gumi—Japan’s largest mafia syndicate—and is believed to be a leader within the organization.
Investigators discovered that the man was a regular visitor to a specific hotel in Tokyo’s Toshima district.
Police arrested the crime boss on July 14. He was found in a hotel room with adult film actress Seiko Abe; 0.7 grams of cocaine were discovered under the bedsheets and on a bedside shelf.
During questioning, Sugawara admitted the drugs belonged to him, while Abe denied any involvement. Both are suspected of drug possession.
The publication noted that Abe was a successful swimmer and a former child prodigy; she was forced to end her 17-year athletic career at the age of 20 due to an injury.
