An 18-year-old was plotting to kidnap France national team striker Kylian Mbappé, according to the newspaper Le Parisien.
The perpetrator intended to target 26 influential figures—including major corporate executives, entrepreneurs, entertainers, and footballers. The Real Madrid forward was among the intended victims; however, the gang—which had already committed burglaries and engaged in pimping in France—was apprehended.
According to the report, Kylian is not currently in any danger.
This season, Mbappé has played three matches for Real Madrid, scoring four goals. The Frenchman also shone this past summer; he recorded ten goals and four assists in eight matches.
