The kit costs $3,800
BYD has launched sales of solar panel kits and related equipment for residential homes through 233 dealerships in Brazil. The kit is available to anyone, including owners of vehicles from other brands.
The standard system comprises eight solar panels rated at 600 W each, providing a total capacity of 4.8 kW. BYD estimates that the installation can generate an average of approximately 600 kWh of electricity per month.
The kit also includes an inverter, mounting hardware, cables, and connectors. BYD offers a single contract covering the equipment, installation, grid connection certification, and one year of insurance. All key components are manufactured at the company’s plant in Campinas, São Paulo state. The system costs approximately 19,000 Brazilian reais, or $3,800.
Owners of vehicles from other brands can purchase the system via an installment plan, with interest rates starting at 1.69% per month.
