Nvidia has officially announced the acquisition of Hugging Face for approximately $12.9 billion. The deal marks a significant shift for Nvidia, which is moving beyond hardware to strengthen its presence in the AI software ecosystem. According to CEO Jensen Huang, Hugging Face will remain an open platform for the entire AI community — developers won’t be forced to use Nvidia’s compute resources to build or deploy models on it. The company plans to scale the platform, bolster its infrastructure, and make AI tools more accessible to developers and organizations worldwide. Hugging Face serves as a hub where users share millions of open-source AI models, datasets, and applications.
