
An international team led by astronomers from India’s Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) identified the system eRASSU J0608. Two white dwarfs orbit each other every 374 seconds (just over six minutes) and are spiraling toward one another at an exceptionally rapid rate. This orbital decay aligns with energy loss due to gravitational waves. The system is a prime candidate for future space-based gravitational wave observatories like LISA, potentially serving as a «verification source» to calibrate signals.
