Real Madrid defeated Inter 2–1 at home in the opening round of the Champions League league phase.
Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Nine minutes later, Federico Valverde doubled Madrid’s lead after capitalizing on an error by Inter goalkeeper Josep Martínez, intercepting the ball right in front of the goal.
Inter pulled a goal back in the second half, with Carlos Augusto scoring in the 77th minute.
In the next round, Inter will play against Club Brugge in Milan on October 13, while Real Madrid will face Roma away on October 14.
