The Solar Astronomy Station of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences has reported that a G4.7 level magnetic storm is developing on planet Earth. “The geomagnetic situation currently appears inexplicably inconsistent with calculations. Only the first, most moderate, of the three expected plasma ejections, which should have reached the planet at night and provoked minor disturbances of level G1-G2, was anticipated,” emphasize the researchers. It is believed that such a powerful storm is caused by the plasma clumps being overtaken by a collection of plasma from the previous, most powerful eruption of the year, owing to record speeds, which led to the intensification of the space phenomenon. Experts continue to monitor the situation and calculate the probable results for the Earth’s magnetosphere, informs the IKI RAS Telegram channel.
