Researchers have established that cocoa helps reduce the adverse effects of a sedentary lifestyle. As part of a recent study, scientists monitored 40 healthy young individuals, half of whom were in good physical shape, and the other half were less trained. Each participant consumed either cocoa with a high flavanol content ($\geq$ 695 mg) or a drink with a low level (5.6 mg), after which they remained immobile for 2 hours. After consuming the drink with low flavanol content, both groups showed signs of impaired vascular function and increased blood pressure.
