British researchers, after long observation, concluded that the best daily intake of coffee and tea for maintaining health is 7–8 cups per day. Scientists have found that chlorogenic acid from coffee reduces the risk of diabetes and nervous system disorders, and also improves gut microflora. Catechins from tea have anti-inflammatory qualities, protecting blood vessels and tissues from damage. Nevertheless, experts remind that excessive caffeine intake (more than three cups of coffee a day) can provoke insomnia and a rapid heart rate, so it is necessary to exercise moderation.
