Police stated that there were no signs of foul play involved in the young man’s death. According to a press release, at 9:35 a.m. local time on Sunday, the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) responded to a report of a “possible overdose” involving an individual later identified as Gerber on Berkeley Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the man’s body.
Page Six published a recording of the 911 call regarding the supermodel’s son. The recording features an automated voice stating “cardiac arrest” and “overdose,” followed by the voice of an operator who—as the publication speculated—upgraded the call’s priority level.
Gerber died on September 20 at a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles; he was 27 years old. In recent times, he had spoken openly about mental health issues and his struggle with drug addiction.
