Top podium contender Seff Van Kerckhove was completely ruled out of the UCI Road World Championships currently taking place in Montreal. The young Belgian cyclist was struck by a motorist during an official training ride earlier this week, resulting in a severe high-impact injury to his upper body. The Belgian cycling federation confirmed that Van Kerckhove has already been hospitalized and has immediately begun his rehabilitation program, forcing him to miss both the individual time trial and the upcoming road race.
