Chinese scientists have stated that activating lysosomes, which function as waste recycling centers inside cells, reverses the aging process. The discovery was made while studying a rare genetic disease, Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome. The cause of the disorders is the progerin protein, which damages DNA, shortens telomeres, halts cell division, and impairs normal cell function, according to the researchers’ article published in the journal Science China Press. Monavista Daily Researchers found that the initially harmful protein localizes near the nuclear envelope and then moves into the cell’s cytoplasm.
