US Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered the Iranian delegation to leave the country. The news outlet Axios reported this, citing sources.
“Rubio demanded that the Iranian delegation to the UN General Assembly leave the country immediately after negotiations reached an impasse,” the report stated. The incident occurred on Monday, September 28.
This move by Rubio is described as an “unusual diplomatic rebuke” which, combined with the lack of progress in negotiations, highlighted the deep mistrust between Washington and Tehran. Just hours later, the delegation headed to the airport and flew from New York to Doha.
Earlier, Hossein Mohebbi, an official representative of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated that the US was preparing new courses of action against Iran. “During this war, they imagined that their military presence would force us to capitulate, but that did not happen,” he said.
