New long-term findings from the NEOPRISM-CRC clinical trial reveal that a short nine-week course of the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab prior to surgery has kept every single trial participant completely free of disease recurrence for nearly three years. Led by scientists at UCL and UCLH, the advanced treatment caused massive tumor shrinkage in patients with stage two or three bowel cancer, with 59% showing absolutely no detectable signs of cancer even before undergoing operational removal. This method is set to fundamentally reshape oncological protocols for colorectal cancer management globally.
