An unusual, glowing cloud resembling a giant jellyfish has been sighted above the Great Wall of China. The phenomenon appeared in the sky over China’s Shanxi Province following the launch of a Long March-6A (Changzheng-6A) carrier rocket, reports the television network CGTN.

Footage shows a massive, glowing, orange-red dome emerging above the historic structure.
The unusual sight was caused by the launch of a Chinese rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. The carrier successfully placed the Yaogan-50 03 remote-sensing satellite into orbit.
As the rocket reaches the upper layers of the atmosphere, its exhaust gases expand rapidly due to the low ambient pressure, forming a vast, dome-shaped cloud. Sunlight, scattering through the atmosphere, illuminates the cloud against the darkening sky, creating the appearance of a hovering “space jellyfish.”
