Astronomers working with the Vera C. Rubin Observatory in Chile have identified a distant icy world known as 2026 ED138. Preliminary estimates suggest the object may be between 600 and 1,500 kilometers wide, potentially large enough to qualify as a dwarf planet. If future observations confirm its classification, it would become one of the Solar System’s most important discoveries in years and expand our understanding of the distant Kuiper Belt region.
