In Japan, the damage sustained by a target ship during tests of projectiles fired from a prototype electromagnetic railgun was shown to the public for the first time. A railgun uses electromagnets instead of chemical fuel for firing. According to the publication, the barrel of the railgun can fire more than 200 rounds, and the projectile speed will be around 2300 meters per second. A high-speed camera and a small radar were mounted on the JS Asuka cabin to collect additional data.
