After 13 years of research, scientists have managed to establish the ideal balance of the two most popular drinks in the world. This was reported by the British Journal of Nutrition. Specialists concluded that for maximum health benefits, it is optimal to consume two servings of tea and three servings of coffee daily. The main requirement is adequate consumption of plain water, which prevents the dehydrating effect of the beverages. Observation of 183,000 participants confirmed that individuals adhering to this regimen showed better well-being indicators. The beneficial effect of this combination is due to the unique composition of each drink. Coffee acts as a source of chlorogenic acid—a substance that helps reduce the risk of developing diabetes, maintains the balance of the gut microflora, and provides a protective effect on the nervous system. Tea, in turn, supplies the body with catechins. These powerful antioxidants counteract inflammation and reliably protect blood vessels and cells from damage. However, the study authors warned against excessive consumption of coffee. Consuming more than three servings per day can lead to undesirable consequences, such as sleep difficulties and heart rhythm disturbances.
