Company X has announced the launch of an enhanced messaging option called “Chat,” which is already available on iOS devices and the web version, and will soon debut on the Android system. Furthermore, the corporation is working on a voice notes feature that will allow subscribers to share audio recordings. The set of new options includes: Sending messages and files using end-to-end encryption; The right to edit, delete messages, or make them self-destructing; Disabling screenshots and receiving alerts about attempts to create them; Absence of advertising and tracking, ensuring complete privacy. X has been announcing new chat features for several months. At the beginning of this year, an initial version of encrypted messages was released, but work on it was halted in May due to unresolved technical difficulties. Now, the company states that it will eliminate certain limitations, and group messages, as well as media files, can now be encrypted. However, metadata, such as recipient information, remains unprotected. Additionally, X emphasizes that it does not currently guarantee protection against Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attacks. This means that a hacker who gains access to an encrypted conversation will not be able to detect the interception. In the event of a breach, neither the sender nor the recipient will know about the interference. In the future, the corporation intends to introduce mechanisms to verify the authenticity of encrypted messages, which will increase their security.
