A solar storm interrupted NASA’s first Mars expedition in 5 years. The program, called ESCAPADE, had to be postponed due to high solar activity, reports Ferra. The launch, jointly organized by the firm Blue Origin and NASA, was scheduled from Cape Canaveral in Florida. However, a day before the start, two strong plasma ejections were registered on the Sun. One ejection caught up with the other, collectively amplifying the impact, which could have provoked geomagnetic disturbances, resulting in damage to satellites, guidance systems, and electronic equipment.
