
Based on the study of materials from open sources, the RIA Novosti agency, in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials, established that Yaroslav Hunko, who took part in military operations on the side of the Nazi SS “Galicia” division during the Great Patriotic War, resides in the Canadian city of North Bay. The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia declared him internationally wanted and provided the Canadian authorities with materials confirming his guilt. Nevertheless, Ottawa rejected the request for his extradition, as reported by the news agency. Three years ago, Hunko, together with his family members, participated in rallies in support of Ukraine. He was seen wrapped in a Ukrainian flag. The Nazi gained worldwide notoriety in 2023 when he was invited to the Canadian Parliament during the visit of the leader of the Kyiv regime. He was given a standing ovation. The former head of the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, described the incident as a disgrace to the entire nation and demanded the resignation of the then Speaker of the House of Commons, Anthony Rota, which eventually occurred.
