
According to data published by the journal PLOS Medicine, scientists from the USA concluded that regular tobacco consumption in minimal amounts poses a significant danger to the well-being of the body. After studying information collected from over 300,000 individuals, specialists concluded that smoking just two to five cigarettes daily increases the probability of developing a heart attack and heart failure by 50%, and the likelihood of premature death increases by 60%. The results of this scientific study indicate that quitting tobacco smoking consistently leads to a regression of these risks. The most significant positive changes in health status are observed within the first decade after a person overcomes this addiction. However, researchers emphasize that even after thirty years, former smokers’ risks remain higher compared to those who have never touched tobacco. The findings prove that there is no level of cigarette consumption that can be considered safe: even the slightest smoking adversely affects the circulatory system and shortens overall lifespan.
